Outdoor Waterparks
Minnesota outdoor water parks range in size, character, and price. Some are water park resorts complete with amenities.
The best ones are mindful of safety and the needs of their patrons. Since Minnesota is in a colder climate, most outdoor water parks are only open during the summer season. However, there are several indoor water resorts like the Water Park of America by Grand Lodge located in the Bloomington, MN area that are open year round.
Outdoor Water Park Resorts
Outdoor water park resorts offer a variety of activities for their visitors. Some, like Whitewater Country Waterpark in Shakopee, Minnesota, are an extension of an amusement park. While Whitewater is relatively small at 3.5 acres, it is part of Minnesota’s biggest thrill park, Valleyfair. The admission price of $35.95 pays for a visit to both parks. Wild Mountain Waterpark is part of a ski lodge and amusement park in Taylors Falls, MN. Prices vary from $15.00 to $29.00, depending on what you want to do there.

Safety and Regulations
Never assume that you can bring food in to a water park. Some places like Bunker Beach in Coon Rapids, MN offer concession stands for its visitors, while others like St. Louis Park offer picnic areas. For liability reasons, many places do not allow personal floatation devices. Before you go and buy some for your visit, make sure you read the safety regulations for the water park.
Going to an outdoor water park on a hot day in Minnesota can be a great way to spend the day. The best one is the one that fits your budget and your needs and is safe for your family. Make sure you look over the amenities and safety regulations before you go, and you will be sure to have a terrific day.
